A STATICALLY CHARGED MISSION IN COLOUR

Lakovna Ladná s.r.o.

This photograph resembles a laboratory where special material is being processed for a spacecraft's next mission. However, this is the mission of a painter in a spray booth in a powder coating workshop. Powder coating is a modern and environmentally-friendly technology for metal surface treatment. It makes use of static electricity. The electrically-charged powder paint mixture is applied to the object using compressed air, which guarantees excellent adhesion.

After the powder paint is applied, the product is transferred to the firing oven, where the powder fuses at temperatures of 180-200°C and hardens into a compact, smooth surface The result is a very strong uniform layer that can boast of high resistance and the product is then ready for use in even the harshest conditions. The entire course of the powder coating process can really be said to resemble the aforementioned space laboratory.
